On February 9, 2026, accompanied by a piercing whistle that echoed across the sky, the vessel “Global Wealth,” carrying the culmination of Xinhong Heavy Industry’s meticulous craftsmanship, slowly departed the dock and boldly set sail into the azure depths. This milestone marks the successful completion of our company’s first-ever project to retrofit a crane vessel with a KLM-type crane.

The “Global Wealth” is a Panamax bulk carrier, 225 meters in length and 32.26 meters in breadth. The core tasks of this dry-docking maintenance include the installation of four 30-ton heavy-duty gantry cranes, the commissioning of new generators, and major overhauls of the main engine and three auxiliary engines.

Upon receipt of the vessel’s maintenance contract, the company’s management team accorded the project the highest priority, promptly assembling a dedicated single-vessel management task force. The team proactively engaged with the shipowner stationed at the yard, convened numerous production-readiness meetings, meticulously refined operational procedures, and rigorously solidified the construction schedule, thereby laying a robust foundation for the smooth execution of the maintenance work.

The execution of project maintenance is a race against time and technical challenges. Under the pressure of tight schedules and overlapping tasks, the Single-Vessel Management Project Team has overcome one hurdle after another: In response to the lack of certain design drawings and incomplete data, the technical team was deployed on-site to engage in intensive communication with the shipowner and conduct on-location surveying and mapping, thereby swiftly completing design conversion and producing detailed drawings; when discrepancies were found between the original vessel structure and the design, process optimization and on-site adjustments were implemented to ensure millimeter-level precision in structural reinforcement and equipment base installation; at the critical milestone of positioning and lifting the crane tower, the team maintained a quality-first approach, leveraged meteorological and hydrological data to accurately forecast wave surge cycles, and scientifically selected the optimal operational window, thus achieving seamless coordination among all specialized processes and completing the work in a single pass. As commissioning of the crane system entered its final phase, the team encountered an unexpected situation—unstable operating conditions of the shipowner’s generators. Remaining calm and conducting a thorough analysis, the team quickly defined the scope of the problem and implemented a well-considered corrective action, ultimately ensuring that all test items were successfully passed on the first attempt and earning the shipowner’s full approval.

It is the depths of winter, with biting cold winds, yet the construction site remains bustling with activity. The single-vessel management team has effectively coordinated and integrated multiple trades—hull construction, mechanical and electrical systems, and painting—in a seamless, phased manner, while optimizing the allocation of production resources to ensure close collaboration. Daily project meetings are used to track progress and resolve obstacles, demonstrating exceptional cross-departmental synergy and highly efficient execution.

The flawless delivery of the “Global Wealth” has earned high praise from the shipowner and further enhanced the reputation of Xinhong Heavy Industry in the ship maintenance and conversion sector.
