On March 7, the complete dock repair project for CNOOC Services’ Bohai 7 drilling platform was successfully completed and delivered for departure. This successful delivery marks the first fully successful collaboration between the company and CNOOC Services’ Integrated Business Unit, and it also lays a solid foundation for undertaking a series of subsequent offshore engineering platform repair projects.
The dock repair project for the “Bohai No. 7” vessel covers a wide range of tasks and presents significant technical challenges, encompassing key projects such as the repair of ballast tank steel structures, the re-welding of pile leg pin holes, the maintenance of the heave compensation system, the overhaul of saltwater and mud systems, and the upgrade and renovation of living quarters. Among these, the most critical task is the repair of a total of 160 pin holes located between 35 meters and 50 meters along the four pile legs. In response to the stringent requirements for welding 902 low-alloy high-strength steel, the project team and technical experts formulated a meticulous plan in advance. Following repair, both the ellipticity of the pin holes and the deviation in hole spacing met the design specifications. With 100% MT and UT inspections conducted, the first‑pass acceptance rate reached 100%, firmly demonstrating XinHong Heavy Industry’s technical expertise in high‑precision welding.
Facing multiple challenges—including a shipyard overhaul period that coincided with the Spring Festival, tight logistics and transportation, and highly variable weather—the project team conducted proactive, comprehensive planning, precisely allocating manpower and devising sand pad and pile installation strategies to ensure the platform’s safe and stable progress. In the end, the team delivered outstanding results—“zero accidents, high precision, and on‑schedule completion”—earning high praise from the vessel owner.
The successful overhaul and retrofit of the “Bohai No. 7” during this dock repair project demonstrates the company’s technical expertise and project management capabilities in the field of offshore engineering equipment maintenance, injecting strong momentum into the company’s further expansion of the offshore engineering market and deepening of industry collaborations.
